The European Union might “act quickly and firmly” against what it deems “unwarranted” travel bans issued by the US against five European individuals working on fighting digital hatred and misinformation, an EU official has said.

European Leaders Condemn US Move as ‘Coercion’

Officials from Europe such as the French president charged Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, after the visa restrictions targeted figures that were central to efforts to introduce laws regulating American tech companies.

“For too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded organised efforts to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they disagree with,” stated a senior US official online. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”

Widespread Condemnation From EU Nations
